Allergy Blood Screening
It is recognised in today's society that climate, food technology/preparation and dietary habits that allergies are becoming more common. The Mayfair Practice offers a comprehensive Allergy screen that assists individuals in determining their type and level of allergies. This is a useful tool to help individuals avoid those factors in which they are allergic in order to minimise the impact on their lifestyle and general well-being.
Food / Inhalant - Allergy Blood Screen
This blood test screens for allergy intolerance to any of the following:
- Peanut, Hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, Almonds and Walnuts
- Cod, Crab, Shrimp, Tuna and Salmon
- Pork, Beef and Chicken
- Wheat, Oats, Corn, Sesame seed, Buckwheat , Rice and Soya Beans
- Peas, White Bean, Carrot, Potatoes, Tomato, Garlic and Onion
- Celery, Orange, Apple and Banana
- Cows Milk, Egg White and Egg Yolk, Cheddar Cheese, Blue Cheese and Yeast
- House Dust Mite, D.Pteronyssinus, Cat / Dog Danda, Horse Danda and Cockroach
- Penicillium Notatum, Cladosporiumherbarum, Aspergillusfumigatus, Candida Albican, Alternaria Alternata, Helminthousporium, Halodus, Timocthy Grass and Box-Elder
- Birch, Hazel, White Oak, London Plane, American Beech, Black Walnut, Mugwort, English Plaitain, Lambs Quarters (Goose Foot), Golden Rod and Nettle.
This screen also gives the total IgE levels. This means that if there is an allergy to a factor that is not listed above it will be indicated, however it is not specific to what the allergy is to, therefore further testing maybe required.
The results take two weeks and are given in a ratio between 0 and 5, 5 being highly allergic.
The fee for allergy screening depends on the amount of intolerances being screened for, prices upon request.
