Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy provides advanced skin micro-surgical needling, a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier and younger-looking skin.
What is Dermaroller™?
The Dermaroller™ medical device is rolled over the face to produce thousands of microscopic needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly - often in the same day. A topical anaesthetic cream is used to numb the skin making the procedure comfortable; it will normally take between 30 to 60 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 20 - 30 minutes for the Dermaroller™ Therapy procedure.
After the procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen and elastin is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a gradual and long lasting enhancement.
Dermaroller™ will give similar results to fractional laser; however fractional laser only makes 70 micro holes per shot, whereas Dermaroller™ makes 200 per roll. Also there is no thermal damage or injury or downtime associate with fractional laser.
How many treatments?
Each individual varies in the number of treatments they require; however, it is normal to have a series of three Dermaroller™ procedures with approximately 6 weeks between them to fully optimise the results. However for the treatment of acne scars and other types of scarring it may be necessary to have up to five procedures. Although for basic skin rejuvenation only one treatment can be of great benefit.

How will I look immediately after the treatment?
Immediately after Dermaroller™ Therapy you will look as though you have moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This will start to subside after 1 to 2 hours and will normally recover within the same day with only slight redness the following day or two. Immediately after the procedure Lycogel® will be applied to promote healing and provide SPF30, this also greatly conceals any redness, therefore you can return to your normal activities immediately. If you will be exposed to extensive sunlight broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with a SPF50 will also be applied.

Each treatment includes pre-cleansing with Agera® RX products, followed by application of topical anaesthetic, followed by Dermaroller™ treatment after which Lycogel® to suit your skin type is applied.
Aftercare
Use tepid water to cleanse the face for the following 48 hours and dry gently, always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area. It is recommended that make up is not applied for 12 hours after the procedure, although the use of Lycogel® is highly recommended.
It is important to protect from Sun / UV Exposure and to refrain from intensive sun light exposure and/or from artificial UV exposure for a period of at least 2 weeks after the procedure. A topical sun protection product with an SPF 50 or higher and with stated UVA protection must be used on a daily basis with regular applications for the same period. Failure to follow the sun exposure and sun protection advice can increase this risk of hyper-pigmentation.
Steam and saunas should be avoided for 3 days post treatment.
